How to Change WordPress Language?
WordPress language can be changed for the blog and the Interface (dashboard) which is an easy process. The different between blog language and interface language are given below.
Blog Language : It is the language of your WordPress dashboard, If you have assign the user to access your WordPress panel then this options can be the best to choose their native language.
Interface Language: This option will change the language of both dashboard and blog. This option allows your visitors to browse your blog in the chosen language but it will not change the language of your post.
WordPress provides numbers of different language in their built-in language directory, which you can install it in 3 different methods.
- Change Pre-installed WordPress Language
- Change WordPress Language using Plugin
- Manually Change WordPress language
1. Change Pre-installed WordPress Language
You can change pre-installed WordPress language going to Setting then General and in Site Language, choose the language from drop down and click on Save Change. It will change the front-end language of your WordPress blog.
If you want to change the language of your WordPress dashboard only then you can go to Users then Your Profile and in Language, choose the preferred language from the drop down box.
Note: You will find only the language that you have activated in Settings as shown above.
2. Change WordPress Language using Plugin
WordPress plugins made easy to add the additional feature of your blog. You can use language plugins to active your preferred language of your blog.
Once installed, go to Setting then General. You will see the Site Language options with additional features where you have to choose your preferred language from drop down and click on Add button. Click on Save Changes Button.
3. Manually Change WordPress Language
You can also change the WordPress language manually using FTP client such as FileZilla. Changing WordPress language.
Download preferred language from WordPress directory.
Go to built-in WordPress language directory and scroll down to choose your preferred language. You will find hundreds of languages in the list. Click on the percentage to continue.
In the next page, you have to click on 5.4x- Development link which will take you to the download page.
In the download page, scrolled the page to the bottom. Click on drop-down box then choose Machine Object Message Catalog (.mo) and click on Export link. It will download your language file in your computer, keep the downloaded file on the desktop for easy access.
Connect FTP client to Upload the file

Once connected FTP client to your web server then open root directory where you will find WordPress core files. Open wp-content folder then Languages. Upload the languages file you have downloaded previous to the server.
Note: If you did not find languages folder inside wp-content then you need to create new folder.
